KGB archiver, the end to my problems?

Hey everyone!!! I came across something mind blowing about an hour ago. I was looking for MS office 2007 (I know, don't download pirate stuff it's a crime:D) and I came across one on 4Shared (my partner in crime!) but it was only 2 meg large. So I downloaded it and inside that archive was the solution to all (well my biggest) problems. Their was one .kgb file, a readme in some unkown language and a installation file for KGB archiver. So I insalled it and then relized the .kgb file is an archive. I then went ahead and started uncompressing it and it was amazing, 440mb compressed to only 1.4mb!!
How is this possible???:eek::eek::eek:
 
I used KGB about a year ago or something. It either doesnt work or you need to superspeck PC or something.

I dunno - maybe there is something BS about it

OK the archive is about 58% uncompressed and so far everything is going well, it does take LONGGGGG but it lokks like it's working. I'll post here to tell you if it worked. BTW is their any other archiver that is this good but more poppuler?
 
I think if it was fair dinkim, then it would be very popular, as it has been around for awhile. Something fishy about... but let us know how it goes.
 
I once used Uharc to decompress a version of Nero 7, the extracted folder was 500 odd megabytes, but the 2 archive folders were only 70 odd in total.

Extreme compression is possible but rarely used. Just takes up too much time I guess.

But this thing of 400 odd megs out of 1.4? Sounds very odd to me. Let us know if you come right.
 
I pretty sure I explained this last week already.

Information theory doesn't allow such compression ratios for anything even close to random content.

The only way 400mb->1mb is possible is when the content is very predictable. This is usually the case with mini-images. They make a normal image, but then overwrite the last 99% of the data with repetitive info. Then 400mb->1mb is easily achievable and it will fool copy protection because the rmps data is stored separately....but you can't install off of it because 99% of the data is missing.

So usually one uses a non-rmps iso to install and the mini-image to run the app. Its a mystery to me why they'd go through that hassle for office though since office does not have anything fancy protection wise aside from activation.:confused:
