Hi, got this Kguard (SEC-713X) surveillance setup at home, with four cams. Can monitor it on the Internet, works well. But I would like to use my cell phone to view the cams. Any ideas how I can get it to work or alternative software that I can use.

Well, you could probably set the system to dump pictures into ftp folder every 20 seconds or so. You can then download that image via the phone when needed.

Even better. Setup a small web server. Let the system dump an image in there every so often. Then simply browse via mobile browser to that picture...

That is a cheap option.

How are you monitoring the server via the net? Are you using dialup modem to modem? Can you dialup using a 3G data card?

Hi Antowan, tried the Ftp in the past, not very effective.

Xeo - the software that you get with KGuard, acts as a webserver??, then I use DynDNS to see the cameras from the web. Problem when you visit it for the first time it uploads some files to the pc from webserver, but I don't know how I can get the Nokia 6110 Nav, to download the needed files so that I can see the cams. Currently I can only see the webpage without any cams on the Nokia.

Anyway thanks for replying will continue search.

"Are you using dialup modem to modem" ? Adsl line

I think your problem is that your phone needs to download these files in Windows format. If you're using a Symbian operated phone, your phone will not be able to decipher the instructions as per the files required for downloading. To prove this theory, you will need to get hold of a phone using Windows Mobile, which should work.

Yes, the only way I can connect to the server is by creating a remote incoming connection on the server, and accessing it via dialup. The dialup can also be using the phone as a modem, via bluetooth, dialing into the server. I'm still trying to find a way to dialup using a 3G data card, as the Vodacom E620 does not dialout to any other number than the *99# something default ISP number. So my search continues. Maybe there is a 3G card that works, but this will be costly "trial and error" excercise for me ;)

The cell has symbian. I will try to get Win Mobile and then see what happens. Will let you know.

aedro, where did you bought your DVR card? and how is the software that comes with that card?, and does that DVR card have bt878 chips on to work with other programs like linux "zoneminder" or /////active webcam "for windows"\\\\, do you know that program?

The stream is probably encoded into a javascript window, from experience it is next to impossible to get a symbian browser to work for this. I have managed to get a PSP to work over wifi tho':)

You can't access anything via 3G other than the telco's network... unless you want to roll out your own network:D

You should be able to setup a web server via DynDNS and have access via 3G. However, you may need to forward some ports on your router.

You can only access it on your phone if the card's software supports it, I tested a demo from one of the local dvr suppliers, you have to download a java application onto your phone and you can view the cams directly from your cellphone over 3g.

cool, can you draw motion maps on the system to tell the system that sections to avoid on the camera for motion detecting?
