Khalid had been in SA before

regardless of these accusations, I don't think the government should be allowed to just deport people under the cover of night and to detention camps for the US. But then, our government does not answer to anyone ... certainly not its ppl .... and this is just another example of it.

haven't seen that .. so far ... all that I have seen on the news(tv) was that the pakistani gov was not involved in the deportation .... and also, no one can get in touch with him. Anyways .... its still only the word of our gov .... and lets face it ... no one really trusts them :)
anyway ... would like to c what happens ... as the lawyer has/is filing with the international criminal court to take our gov and the pakistani gov to court to produce this guy ....

I suppose time will tell - that is if the press doesn't forget about it.

According to the Pakistani government he was deported from SA under the care of Pakistani officials back to Pakistan. http://www.news24.com/News24/South_Africa/News/0,,2-7-1442_1948249,00.html
er no. According to the dept. of home affairs, he was deported under care of Pakistani officials. The Pakistani govt. (who may or may not have been involved in the deportation/abduction) has publicly said nothing.

PS: Rashid may well be a terrorist, and if he is, I agree wholeheartedly that he should be arrested and prosecuted. However, I do not agree with abduction, extraordinary rendition, detention without trial, the export of torture, and similar human rights abuses. In South Africa we have a very clear consitution which guarantees people accused of crimes due process.
