Kia Cerato 2010 Suspension Replacement

Hi guys

So I'm just going to jump right in:
I have a 2litre Kia Cerato (manual) purchased in late 2010, brand new. I have never replaced the shocks, and they do need replacement now (at 130 000 km).

Judging from the prices of OEM shocks, I wonder if I can spend a little bit more, and get after market coilovers? lowering the car isn't my goal, but what I'm really looking for is comfort ie adjusting how hard / soft the ride is.

The original setup was always a bit harsh.

Does anyone know where / if I can source these in sa?

Can't answer your question, but just for interest sake, I paid R6300 a couple of months ago to replace all mine at about 110 000km.

@Caosti, R6300 isnt bad. The quotes I got were coming in around 8 grand
 
Just an update, Koni would have to make a custom one at close on R 17k, so wont be going that route
 
Have this same issue with the i20. The newer models have a much softer ride. Seems Hyundai/Kia realized the mistake and made the ride softer in newer models of their cars.

Question is, how does one replicate it in the older model without buying a new car

Gnome, I've come up short. I've given up on trying to get a decent coilover system for under 12k
Did manage to find a local store willing to fit standard Gabriel ones for around R 5500 incl installation and alignment.

You aren't going to find comfy coilovers for less than R15k or so. Try an alternative spares shop (like Goldwagen for VW, I'm not sure who the Kia equivalent is).
