I drive a Kia Cerato 2.0 hatch auto, 2011 model. The car has blown multiple head / braking lights during its lifespan.

Initially it didn't bother me but now in 1 week it will blown both headlights and a brake light in one go, at random.

When driving and looking at other Cerato's (even Koup derivatives) on the road I notice more and more vehicles with blown lights.

I once spoke to a Kia mechanic and he was of the opinion its a well know issue with the vehicles, if so why has there not been a recall of the vehicles?

Have you been affected or know about some with the same issue maybe?

I've had an i20 for a year now and replaced fog and headlight bulbs twice but... I fitted aftermarket bulbs.
The standard ones are too yellow but still works.

Had a Getz and I also recall it happening frequently both fog and head lamps. Also had a Corsa that was just as frequent if not more. Other makes years go by before a lamp goes

I've always found with all my cars that if the headlight goes then the brake lights will inevitably follow shortly after.

So unless the whole lot are popping repeatedly, I wouldn't worry about it really.

I have replaced all of them several times.. :/

I've got the same problem on my ix35, had to replace both headlights, front fog light, numerous front and rear park lights.

I've stocked up with the offending bulbs from Midas and replace when needed, the front fog light was was the only one I had to do at the dealership as the bottom of the bumper had to be removed to get to the bulb.

I remember the twincam shape Corolla's had this problem. Then it became not so common with aftermarket lightbulbs.

What brand of bulbs are fusing? The usual Osram/Bosch/Hella stuff? Or do Kia fit some other brand?

Actually not certain what Kia uses, they did replace some which didn't last. Guy at Midas said I should try Philips for the main beams which I fitted last week..

Oh i'm sure you know this but don't touch the glass of the bulb at all when installing

That should be perfect. I know the spares shops stock no name brand bulbs too which might be of a lower quality and not last as long.

Think I found your problem :D

Kia\Hyundai uses Osram.

Depends on the exact model, but I do know that Osram state a short lifespan for their Nightbreaker bulbs. They're noticeably brighter than stock, but that comes at the expense of longevity. Still well worth it though.
