My other half has a Kia 1.1 [2015]

There are two things I find odd about it, hoping someone here has one and can verify whether these are "faults" or if its just really poor quality.

1: The radio/mp3 player: The audio quality is dreadful, bass on full tilt and there is ZERO bass, not even the tiniest vibration. This greatly affects the sound of songs. If you put on a bassy song it sounds like someone is trying to clear their throat.

2: No auto lock when driving, most newer cars I have driven auto-lock when you reach a certain speed (even the fordka), no such feature on the picanto.

Not huge issues but somewhat annoying

Both of the above are not things you would find in economy cars...

I've driven the Renault Sandero, Toyota Etios, Tata Indica and i10 which are in the same category and none of them have mind blowing bass or auto locking doors.

Edit: Infact, drive the Etios and I'm sure you will appreciate the sound quality of the picanto.

Unfortunately those aren't faults. I have a Kia Picanto 1.1 2012

Sound is crap as you mentioned, and it doesn't auto-lock when driving faster than x Km/h like other cars.

My dad calls my aircon the "super boost NOS system" because whenever I want to overtake other cars on the N1 (single lane), I turn off the aircon for a bit more power.

:D

Know exactly what you mean. Back in the 80's I had a Merc 230 auto, if the aircon kicked in going uphill it felt like someone had thrown an anchor out of the boot.

Just want to clarify which model you are referring to...the current shape came out in 2011 and has 1.0 and 1.2 derivatives. The previous shape had the 1.1 engine.

So are we talking current or previous generation here?

^^
Post of the year right there......

With some insulation in the doors you can up the quality of the midrange bass of the speakers somewhat. My Honda has big, useless, 6W door-speakers that I propped and insulated with duct-tape & accoustic carpeting as per a recommendation on a Honda forum and it made a world of a difference to midrange bass. I had a compact 10" Pioneer subwoofer installed in the boot and it has upped the SQ significantly further.

As for auto-locking doors - it cost upwards of R230k when I bought it and it also doesnt have this feature...

Where is eg2546773 to give his valuable Picanto feedback

FiestaABXXDFJ, it is actually eg2505 :)

(and he is not on MyBB 24hrs of the day like you :) but I'm sure he will comment at some stage)

I don't have a Picanto, but I just wanted to say something no one will be able to unsee. The steering wheel looks like a clown:

You see?

Drove in a friends picanto, speakers sounded like Laptop speakers - my Ford Fiesta also didn't auto-lock the doors and apparently the reason for this is that the cars are built to European spec, and in Europe they consider it safer for the doors to be unlocked in the event of an accident and they need to pull you out of the car (this is what I read when looking up the Fiesta's reasons for not doing this). Which to me doesn't make sense as BMW's as old as the E46 automatically unlock the doors if you slam brakes in anticipation for an accident and also unlock the doors should the airbags deploy as well as shut off the fuel pump....
