So, I was browsing and came across the spur thread and thought we could share some ideas. personally I hate the food at the spur but it is nice to go somewhere for lunch over a weekend where the little one can play while the wife and myself can chat and have a few drinks or whathaveyou.

There seem to be more and more kid friendly venues springing up recently, and some of them have really good food and a nice relaxed atmosphere, anyone got any recommendations?

Places around us (Roodepoort) that are quite nice and kid friendly

Papachinos - foods good but can be quite pricey, seems quite commercialised too.
Adegas/Forno Italiano at Retail crossing - Nice open air playground shared between the two places and Adegas food is usually quite nice.
Berlin@Ruimsig - Food is good, beer is good, great playground that can keep the little one occupied for hours.

and please lets try the kids at restaurants bashing to a minimum please :)

Here in CT we tend to go to certain Ocean Baskets that also have nice play areas. I refuse to go to the Spur. Most of the winefarms with food have awesome play areas for kids. We are spoilt for choice really.

Been to Berlin in Plett - nice but the open play area gets quite hot in the afternoon sun, only sandpit is covered.
But nice place to go early morning, late afternoon, beer awesome, food excellent

Lifestyle Garden Centre (cnr John Vorster and Beyers Naude) - Decent quality food and very kid friendly play area, as well as the kids pizza making thing...

The swings etc. are free and then there's the paid for rides, paid R18 a ride for my nephew last week.
