I was just trolling through sites that mention MyADSL (or Mr White) to see what sort of press we have generated and where...and came accross an article from March 2003 where Steve White is quoted as saying some pretty amazing things...
When speaking of 3Gb threshold...
"<font color="blue">These tweaks will not address the concerns of the ISPs or of many users, but White believes other problems need education rather than technical solutions. One example he identifies is a "local is lekker" campaign to maximise the use of South African resources.
<i>"South Africans pay a tax living in SA; we are very far away from where most of the content is [in North America]," he says. "We need to tell people that there is often content in SA that can replace what they are getting overseas."</font id="blue"></i> "
How arrogant can one man be and who the hell does he think he is "re-educating" the public by restricting their access to information? And as he speaks for Telkom, how can an organisation get away with restricting to a local market what should be freely available to us as it is to the rest of the world? I mean - apartheid was over in the early 90's. What Telkom are advocating is censorship.
