What if I'm drinking copious quantities of semi-good whiskey and water. Does that amount to the same treatment as beer?
You need to reduce your uric acid and avoid foods that are high in Oxylate.
So same as gout? It's not going to prevent them if they are forming from other stuff in your diet, dude!

Uhm, what is that? Would you mind elaborating on that a bit?
I got kidney stones for the first time in my life 2 weeks ago. I didn't know what the pain was and ended up in the ER of the hospital. Spent 2 hours on a drip and the pain passed. Ended up back in hospital 2 days later for 2 full days. I was released from hospital on my birthday. I have genetically high uric acid, so now I'm on chronic meds (Puricos) to manage it.![]()
Got double kidney stones (one in each kidney) about 3 years back. Was hospitalised and had scans done. They eventually passed. That day I understood why people get addicted to Morphine. Needless to say, since then I watch my hydration very, very carefully.

Beers work, lots of it, Castle or black label, not the mild stuff. sorted my brother and another friend in no time (both are non drinkers)
Not sure about drinking beer, I passed a stone(s?) in one agonising day in my 20's and my system was exceedingly well flushed in those days.
