Kies is going to be Samsung's downfall with me. I have never been able to connect (USB) and sync with ease. One moment it works then it doesn't. Tried all the updates everything but it doesn't connect to phone and when you lucky enough to get a connection all that happens is preparing to sync and I am old enough and have wasted enough of my life with stupid things I don't need to waste more on products I have purchased.

Trying with MS Office 2010.

I know there are guys going to say but we use this or that and that there are plenty of apps on the market but for one I don't see why I should go buy another app for my PC to sort Samsung's K@K out.

How is HTC's connection and sync any issues with Windows or MS Office?

Sorry for the venting but If they are so great with phones, and don't get me wrong I like my SGS, why on earth can Samsung not get Kies to talk to 2 of the most common programmes out there???

Not good Samsung you are driving me away.....................

Same here.

Search the forums for Kies, there's some alternatives available.

I've found that by using the latest update from samsung's own Kies page, I got it to work. YMMV though.

LOL

I've only used Kies once & that was when I just got my phone. :(

Then I became clever and downloaded Odin. Just too easy to change between ROMs with it.

I agree it is pretty *****, but I've never had much use for it anyway.

Mind you, Kies Air looks like it can be very useful on a big screen.....

Must still try it, but it shows potential.

Kies never picked up my Samsung running Bada 1.2

So glad I bought the HTC Desire S, works without any problems.

Only time Kies does not pick up my phone is while it is encrypted... once decrypted.. I restart the phone prior to connecting.
I updated the firmware twice, with this method.. currently on ICS.
Running Windows 7 64bit.

I just download the official firmware from www.samfirmware.com, install it with Odin and it's done.

Don't know where Kies stores the downloaded firmware and can't be bothered.

Much easier and safer the Odin way. And Odin doesn't stall the upgrade if your phone is not 50% charged. ;)

Yeah KIES is terrible, I remember when I still used it on my Wave, every update for KIES somehow broke it and required a reinstall or registry edit, luckily now I never need it.

My kies picks up my phone but I have absolutely no use for it. Samsungs sync software reminds me way too much of that old nokia stuff that used to mess up your phonebook by splitting your grouped contacts so that you end up with the same name 6 times cuz u had 6 numbers for the person.

Also I do not use office, stopped wasting time on outlook almost 2 years ago, use my phone or gmail in a browser, use Zimbra at work as its easier when I have to manage 6 email accounts. As for office, I use google docs, have a nice app called syncdocs that make google docs the default editor for offices stuffs. Not that I have had to yet but I would be far happier paying syncdocs $20 per year than MS a single cent for that bloated crap they call office.

Root with Odin - install CWM.

No need to use Kies ever again :D
