Wasn't it the KFC reject ?
He said police and security officials were practising a crowd control drill for the World Cup around Long Street on New Year's Eve
and if a gun had gone off they would have heard about it.
Maybe it was an errant firecracker? There's a reason you need a permit for those things.
So the possibility that it was a stray bullet from shootout between police or gangs has not even been mentioned?
Funny though, how the police weren't even interested. Perhaps it was their bullet as they were firing at a suspect?![]()
As for "Kill a tourist day" how do you pick out a tourist, politely tell them you would like to see their passport before you shoot them? Taxi's are used by hundreds of thousands of south africans every day. Not even I could pick out a tourist from one of our own, so unless gangs have suddenly come across some futuristic tourist radar, I believe this story is a lot of sensationalistic hype.
How many tourists? Please do enlighten us.Hey, please don't bring up the riots in Paris. Is not helping your cause. (France is quickly getting fed up with this less privileged 'immigrants' ;D ) Tell me, do you have a vague clue how many people/tourists got murdered in South Africa during 2009?
Not surprising thoughI am a bit disturbed to see how quickly the government supporters in here, decided the incident was non-existent/made up! How sad.
What pressure are you talking about? The police acknowledged this early on. What has happened here is some washed up actress has invented a lot of nonsense to promote herself. Her story is full of embellishment and dramatisation that we would be correct to assume it is all invention until verified by someone not attempting to promote themselves. Thankfully the taxi driver did bother to report it to the police.Well, after some public pressure, the police eventually admitted to the incident. How suprising. Now that they have the bullet will they be able to trace the firearm used? Note: I am a bit disturbed to see how quickly the government supporters in here, decided the incident was non-existent/made up! How sad.
It's not sad. And I'm not a government supporter. It is quite plain that this woman was seeking publicity for herself.
