Malebo Nyadi Moeketsi, 56, was shot and killed in a surgery in GaRankuwa outside Pretoria, where two armed men had held Dr Motloutsi, an employee and four patients hostage.
Timothy Moeketsi, 56, her husband, said he was still shocked by the death of his wife on Friday.
"Her death came as a shock. She was not feeling well and went to our family doctor to consult," he said.
He said when she entered a firearm was pointed at her and she screamed.
She was shot in the stomach and the bullet exited her body on the side.
Moeketsi said he does not live far from the surgery and a woman who works there alerted him.
"I rushed to her. I found my wife lying on the floor and I rushed her to a clinic, where she died 30 minutes later.
"We were married for 38 years. I cannot believe they killed my baby," he said.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Matheuws Nkoadi said the robbers demanded money but found none because the doctor works with medical aids.
They took everyone's cellphones and the doctor's laptop before fleeing in the doctor's car.
"The car was found a few hours later abandoned in Zone 15. The suspects are still on the run.
"We appeal to the public to come forward with information that can help us," Nkoadi said.
