not quite sure yet...
Ah... So i happened to be in musica a bit earlier, here in the middle of nowhere, and to my greatest surprise, Killzone3 was on the shelf :-D

So i snatched that copy and immediayely bought it, got home as quickly as possible, and stuck it in the PS3... Only to still be waiting to play... Since apparently firmware v3.55 is the minimum required version in order to play. And with the fantastic connection we have out here in the middle of nowhere, its going to be awhile before i can share in the joys of playing KZ3

So... Might be old news, but for those that werent prepared... You have now been notified...

Why don't you just ask someone to download & mail it to you?

Easier to wait 2 or 3 hours than 2 to 3 weeks for mail :-D

Besides, the connection is not usually that bad, just been a bit slow the last day or two in this area.

On a separate question, since i'm now up and running... Where is / how does the online co-op work? The lady and i have been playing campaign co-op for a little while and enjoying it quite a bit.. So looking forward to taking it online, but cant seem to see where or how to do it. Any ideas, or am i a little slow catching onto something?

No online co-op unfortunately, only in campaign mode. To go online you just select Multiplayer, then you can choose Maps selection (should be default on "ANY" map for each mode) or Warzone where missions are to be completed or Guerrilla Warfare where only bodycount (killing) are the mission or Operations which are more of a Interactive game story.

Once selected the unit will go online and join and active game.

Have fun.

Download the firmware via PC and then load it on a USB stick formated in fat32.
Use these instructions http://us.playstation.com/support/systemupdates/ps3/pc_update/

why can't he update using the disc? Why would sony or the game developer not put the update into the disc?

It's not advisable for several reasons and secondly it could be against Sony's EULA for third parties to distribute their software as is the case with most software vendors.

Firstly KZ3 is a exclusive with Sony. Secondly the Firmware is 99.9% on the disc, if ever my firmware was not up to date the disc will update to latest version.

I have kz3 but my firmware is always up to date, maybe go to setting, update firmware and choose removable disc

Strange, when I inserted the disk and KZ3 started it downloaded the the latest game update from GG. As for the system update it usually ask to update when you want to connect to the PSN network, then you may select local media or Internet, I never experienced a PS3 update from a game disk itself.

Well, game refused to run until I had updated the firmware. I didn't think to try through Settings > System update, but would have thought that the disc might have provided an option or indication of how to update using the disc.

Just on a side note: when a slow internet connection means updating is slow, I'm pretty sure trying the update through a PC is also going to be slow, if its using the same connection :p Well, at least I hadn't mentioned that I was using the same connection for both PC and PS3, but yeah... thought it might be helpful to know.

Anyway... once the firmware was updated, we had to update the game as well, as per MegaXLR's post. And then once that was complete, we were able to start. All in all, it took about an hour to start up... not too bad considering connectivity issues here.

Sony are morons. I really don't see any legal or practical reason to not put updates on discs. Considering these discs can hold gigs what's 300megs to them?

So what about later updates then? What is so difficult downloading a update from the PSN via PS3 (slow) or via PC (fast) and a memory stick?
