I downloaded this, put my Amazon.com username/password and registered the device.

But no books pull up :/

Something else I need to do?

No shop, apple's greed. Apple wanted in app purchase to go thorough the app store meaning they'd get a cut.

No shopping from the kindle app anymore. There is an Amazon app, that could work?

All purchases available via Archives on any device. Currently reading SJ's biography - Kindle in bed, iPad downstairs, iPhone everywhere else - all perfectly in sync so moving effortlessly between the devices. Technology rocks!

Still prefer the app myself, though. If you have bought books from Amazon before, you can get at them with the Archived Items
button in the bottom left corner. just tap on a book in the archive to download it.
