It doesn't sound like its too intrusive... you recon its worth it ?

I'm not going to buy too many books, mostly I'm going to read PDF's and other books I have downloaded already. Not even sure if I am going to connect to Amazon at all.

No unfortunately you can't get that deal unless you live in the USA. It only applies to a 'domestic' model which in any case they will not sell you if you have a foreign address.

It doesn't seem as though you can actually buy from them - seems like they offer advise rather than a service.

I would just buy it direct from Amazon. They charge you the import duties up front, are happy to send out to SA and their warranty means if it malfunctions in the first year they send you a new one.
