Self-proclaimed Reserve Bank president, King Arthur RSA, says he has the answers.
JOHANNESBURG – A Reserve Bank shareholder who is claiming one billion British pounds from the central bank, and who has proclaimed himself the new chief of the institution, now claims he has what it takes to rescue South Africa. Arthur John Boettcher astounded shareholders at an ordinary general meeting of the bank in Pretoria on Thursday June 30 2011, when he announced that he was taking over as president and, condescendingly, that incumbent Governor Gill Marcus may stay on as his deputy. While his announcement caused a stir, most seemed not to take his pronouncement too seriously.
However, this journalist’s interest was piqued and decided to get to know the tall, dark-haired, slightly rotund man who seemed pretty harmless after Marcus put him in his place during the meeting a little better. After spending sometime on the internet researching Boettcher, who also refers to himself as King Arthur RSA in communiqués posted on the web, the result was startling.
In response to a number of questions posed to Boettcher, one in particular on why he called himself King Arthur RSA, he replied that it was his political name: “If I choose an executive financial life, and the de facto power, if used by the correct person to its potential, politically as well, it would only be responsible to choose the political name that will give South Africa senior political leadership on the planet.” Read more
