The project to make the Knysna municipal area the first African town to become fully WiFi connected is on track, amid objections from Telkom and allegations of underhand tactics.

David Jarvis, CEO of UniNet, the Internet service provider contracted to carry out the project, says the first phase of the project – the roll-out of the network that will link 62 municipal offices – would be completed by the end of this month.

Can't believe Telkom actually has the nerve to sit from the sidelines and throw allegations around regarding legality. Their half-ass service delivery can't even make it to the rural areas, and is too expensive when it is availvable anyway.

All these people are trying to do is make life a little easier for some ppl, and all Telkom are doing are trying their hardest to shut it down so that they can milk some more profits themselves!!

This is great news, if Knysna can do so can other towns, although that price for the calls looks like it could be cheaper ...
