Eskom to shut Koeberg's Unit One
Unit One of Eskom's Koeberg power station will be shut down early on Saturday morning for maintenance, the utility said on Friday.
"The unit will be unavailable to generate electricity for a minimum of three weeks," it said in a statement.
"Eskom is confident that the supply of electricity to the Cape and South Africa in general will not be affected by the shut down."
The Koeberg nuclear power station supplies power to the Western Cape, including Cape Town. Eskom said that power shortfall would be taken up by other power stations.
This is the second time Unit One at Koeberg has been shut down this year.
In January, Eskom announced it was shutting down Unit One for regular maintenance, refuelling and upgrading. At the time, it said the power station would be back online by May. - Sapa
