Koeberg Unit 2 trips

Something horrebly just went wrong a little while ago. Grid voltage dropped like a ship anchor and multiple towns are without power.

Voltage is more local, frequency is the thing that if it drops is a problem.

Voltage indicated overload and emergency grid disconect to avoid Frequency drop.

Voltage drops, increases are on your internal grid, the frequency is universal in SA. The drops are probably due to the weather, or a transformer dropping.
Looking at the grid frequency no major drops in the last 24 hours

No major drops in the last 6

Though dips to 49.6 isn't great, but sadly not unusual :-(
Frequency for my side has been 230 to 245 in the last 6 hours.

Around 8:32 something broke, And I am not even on the same grid as the area that went down.

Looks more like 8:09

Dipped below 49.6 to 49.5 which is what we had yesterday morning when Koeberg had a hiccup. Wonder how many times it does dip below 49.6 cause graphs won't really take that into account unless you macro it.
Also an area going down isn't indicative of an issue with Eskom, that would be area specific. Especially with the weather.
Hmm looks like 15:18 on Thursday as well

Here is the Saturday when Majuba went down, it dropped down to 49.2

From their statement, it tripped while they were doing work on unit 1, they are busy refueling and testing the containment shield of unit 1.

Those idjits probably are irradiated now

Lead with that next time :).
First time in the History of South Africa that we have gone without power. We are exempt from loadsheding. Now to find out what the impact is. 2H15m no power.

Aren't you lucky, for both... Cause I can't say the same for most of SA.

People at Bloubergstrand one of these days...

Scary to think how "lightly" they make it out to be. 300km worth of nuclear wasteland could be the new real estate for some...

Why will it explode?

And its the 5km and then 20km around Koeberg that is the most dangerous. I am on the 20km border.

Any further distance will depend on the weather conditions on the day.
