Never knew this but it looks like many KZN libraries are online. You can browse catalogues, renew books and put books on hold.

Uses Brocade http://brocade.cipal.be/index.php (Dunno if this is based on Senayan Open Source Library Management System (SLiMS) http://senayan.diknas.go.id/)

Some background,

Thanks, very interesting!

Tell me, how do you place the books on hold? I've tried logging in with my library card number, but no success. Do you need to register with your library first?

This is good, a library that is not online (infrastructure permitting) these days is behind the times.

There's a problem with the login thing since yesterday afternoon. Rather use your ID number as I think they might have adopted a new card numbering system as mine apparently starts with e:kcoa-kwaz:xxxxx. You don't need to register first. Your initial password is your date of birth so if you were born on 9Jan1960 use 09/01/1960 with leading zeros.

I have not been able to log in yet but according to the librarian I can put a book on hold and logic tells me you would only be able to do this once logged in as it has to go against your card#/name.
