A man was killed when he was driven over by a pneumatic roller on Wednesday on Inanda road, near Hillcrest, KwaZulu-Natal paramedics said.
"Paramedics responded to a construction site to find a large crowd grouped around the roller. On closer inspection, paramedics found a man motionless underneath the heavy vehicle," ER 24 spokesman Russel Meiring said.
"Paramedics crawled underneath the vehicle to determine the patient's condition. Once they were near the patient, they found him in a critical condition, with his vital signs diminishing quickly."
Meiring said that after the roller was removed there were no signs of life from the man.
CPR was performed for some time but the man was declared dead on the scene.
The cause of the accident was unknown and police would investigate, he said.
