L4D2 online - HOW?

Okay, I bought L4D2 via Steam the other day with the intent of playing it online, but I do not see how I can connect to the local servers? I just get put into lobbies with US gamers and the lag is way too high. I realize this is probably a noob question, but I am really keen to play online.

Also see here http://steamcommunity.com/groups/saix_game_service/announcements/detail/91355662793489028 you can put any server into the list. Also join the steam groups for SAIX, ISgaming, IGame and WAGE, then in game you can select to join group servers.
