La Lucia Congestion

I dont understand this. It says I am elegible for 20MB VDSL, but yet I sync at ADSL only and not AdSL2+. Am I missing something on how this works? If VDSL is available, shouldnt ADSL2+ also be available?

PM the TelkomZA rep, and ask them to have a look for you.If VDSL is available then ADSL2+ is, but it could be that your line hasn't been moved to the MSAN yet. I assume your router supports ADSL2+?

Yeah it does. I can choose auto mode or I can specify adsl, adsl2 or adsl2+. It only works when I have it set to adsl.

I'm in the red area, but my line does sync on ADSL2+ after complaining for a year.

Anyone in The Gardens have 10mbps? Or decent 4mbps?
My 4mbps is terrible, almost unusable every evening.

**** Yeah!!

I see the foundations of new MSAN's are being laid all over La Lucia and surroundings.

I need me some VDSL.

WooHoo!!! Telkom just dropped an MSAN on Moreland Dr just outside The Gardens

Hmm, could this be why my line has been dead for 6 days? Or is this my usuall quarterly downtime.

No bud, not related.
Report it to Telkom.
There is a site / page somewhere on Telkom site where you can put in your telephone number to see if there are / will be disruptions due to upgrades being done in your area.

Fault was logged on thursday morning 9am. I tweeted TelkomZA on thursday afternoon asking them to escalate or do something as i needed the line on the weekend. They only responded on friday night and said they escalated, it's now almost wednesday and havn't had a line for 6 days. Bloody pathetic. Plus this is about the 10th time in the last 2 years, NOT including the 1 year of congestion before all this. The line is so bad this has become a quarterly issue. All the money we are paying and we don't even have a connection half the time.

Also spent R800 on this stupid 3g dongle and 5gb data bundle just for the weekend and it's just as useless as i get 5kB/s and disconnects all the time because the signal is so ****.

/rant over

Keep escalating bud and make sure you put in a claim/dispute for non-availability of service to get credit on your account. Once it is resolved of course. Hello Peter normally gets them moving too, as you well know.

Good luck...

I just logged a fault with afrihost as well, seeing as my line is with them. Where do you put in a claim for non-availability?

Drove past the MSAN on moreland dr on the way home from work. I wonder if i will get connected to it, i'm about 500 - 800m away, but when i checked the coverage map it looked like i was 2 houses short :( Not that i really care i just want a reliable connection that doesn't die every few months.

You first have to be registered on their site and have your account linked to your registered ID.

The you go here:
https://secureapp.telkom.co.za/eportal/eBilling/createdisputes

This is where you log a dispute about your billing, be sure to include all your fault references and details about what happened.

I've never had a problem with this working 100%.
I don't think it will work as the line rental is in Afrihost's name and they must apply for the credit.

Just thought I'd give an update.

I am still experiencing bad congestion in La Lucia (Off Moreland Drive) in the evenings. My 4 meg line performs like a 1 meg every evening from about 5pm onwards then it gooes back to normal around 11/12pm.

Is anyone else still having similar problems?
