****ing useless. If you call this fixed you can go **** yourselves telkom. 2 more weeks and u lose another customer, and i want a ****ign refund for the last 10 months you stole from me. What a bunch of braindead monkeys, how can u upgrade everybody's line speed without even considering if your useless infrastructure can handle it. Whoever signed off on that **** probably got a bonus. /daily rant over

How is La Lucia these days for you guys with problems? Anyone swopped over to the magic MSANs?

This is a response from Telkom rep with regards to MSAN upgrades in La Lucia:

I was wondering if you could assist. About 3 months ago an MSAN was installed in La Lucia about 500m from my Estate on Umhlanga Rocks Drive in La Lucia. Since then no change has happened on my line with respect to speed (still on 4meg). It it possible for you to let me know which DSLAM I am on and if i will fall part of the MSAN upgrade?

My ADSL number is 031572****

Basically I just want to be bumped up to 10meg if possible. Ive called the call center multiple times stating this but they say it is not possible in my area.

Kind Regards

Anybody receive an SMS from telkom this morning? I got an SMS saying they are performing network upgrades in my area so connectivity might be intermittent. Not sure if this was for my place in jhb or la Lucia. Any body else here get the SMS?

I got an email and sms, called the helpdesk and they said my port has bern reserved for migration to the MSAN. But they cant give a date.

boom! 20/40 available, and sync bumped up to 10mb. Thank you TelkomZA

Hi there, are you serious?!?
How did you manage that? I'm in La Lucia too, a large estate near the mall and we weren't upgraded yet.

No love for a noob hey whatwhat? Hahah

Anyway, it would be much appreciated if someone could document if it is possible to be switched to one of the new MSANs on request if enough pressure is put on Telkom (i.e not having to wait for the general upgrade)

Or if you were moved to a less congested DSLAM (if this is possible)

And how you went about putting the pressure on Telkom to get this acomplished.

Hey, sorry didnt see this. I got an email that Telkom is maintenance on my line, called their helpdesk and they said they dont know what I'm talking about. I PM'd TelkomZA and a few days later they came back and said my port has been moved, and I can take VDSL.

Currently I'm on 15Mb ADSL2, waiting for 20Mb VDSL profile to be applied.

ok so seems something was upgraded on my exhange. sync speed has change from 4096/512 to 4096/509. So basically unchanged. Not sure what the point of these upgrades are when they cant give us a better speed.

still slow

I'm still suffering unbearably slow speeds in the evenings.
It's about the speed of dialup now... and I'm on a 4mb line.
Also on a 572**** number.

Hey guys. Just thought I'd let you know I've been bumped up from 4 to 10 meg and 20meg vdsl is now available on my number. Speeds are pretty good! I'm on 031572.

I dislike people like you ... Since the 'upgrade' a few weeks ago. My router only syncs at 640k (We're on a 4 Meg package which worked wonderfully until exchange congestion earlier this year!) - We've had ADSL for 5 years now and now its all going horribly wrong. :(

lol what did i do!?! blame telkom!
My unhappy side showing its face... :) I've sent a message to TelkomZA on twitter - Hopefully they can make things happen and move some nOOb onto the port I'm currently using
