La Lucia Congestion

I've also noticed it's been getting better. Nowhere near stable enough to play anything.

Around a month ago it used to sit at around 900ms, recently it's been sitting at around 200 - 400ms.
Maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Woah easy tiger, this is telkom we are talking about, this could all be something to do with the tides and phase of the moon. More like a tiny spark at the end of a very long tunnel. I did see some holes dug up the road from me, no idea if it was telkom related, but it has been better since i saw them.

I swear they are ****ing reading this. As soon as i post this its ****ed back to 900ms

LOLNVM!

It's gone back to hell -_-

Where did you see the holes?

In my wall after seeing this bull**** start again. It was at the top of moreland drive/avenue, don't think it had anything to do with telkom though.

I noticed what looked like a new MSAN in umhlanga today, in forest drive, probably 400m from my house. Going into telkom on monday and see if I can apply for a new line and if it will give me 10mbps

Good luck with your endevours Mr Feesh, let us know if your new line doesn't suffer the same fate.

Yep - Same problem here. At my folks place in Glenashley (The line connects to the La Lucia exchange).
First node of a tracert yields more than 600ms.

Funny enough - I get better speeds & latency where I live (In the rural mountainous regions of our country!!)

yea, i finally got a reply on twitter from them, they said they will let me know tuesday, what the issue is and when or if it will be fixed. We shall see...

Please let us know what the outcome is...

I'm hoping they move me to another exchange, i know 2 ppl who they moved, so the best bet is to tweet them.

Tweet @TelkomZA, they're pretty quick at replying to be honest.

I got the following reply from them this morning "we have localized area congestion and have requested feedback on when capacity constraint will be resolved, Will advise"

I also saw a Telkom guy outside my gate and grabbed him to check on the situation (It was a great day for me!) and he said that there's a few DSLAM cards that are congested and would try and see what he could do for me (Indicating that he would move me to another card)... Apparently this area is ready to change over to the new MSAN/ISAMs installed, but that they are awaiting for Telkom to give the order to 'cut-over'. He said that this would be done 'hopefully' by the end of the year!

I'll see if my latency becomes better over the next day (I'm hoping he went to the exchange and changed the wires over! :D Otherwise I might just do so myself!

They tried phoning me while i was at work, so you got more info than me :) Where about do you stay? Maybe it will fix mine in the process.

Its my folks place in Glenashley - Near Danville... Just done a trace route and 2nd hop is at 35ms - Best its been since I've been visiting. Will check later tonight though (Hopefully the guy changed us over!)

Where do you stay?

Just down the road from glenashley spar, unfortunately it looks like i'm being ignored on twitter again.

I just got back to Durban and my line has been perfect since Telkom "fixed" it awhile ago.
