La Lucia Congestion

Got this email from my ISP this afternoon.

"Telkom have advised that your fault is now been linked to a network fault, ref *********. This was logged for congestion between the exchange and the device (Edge router)that connects you to our network (IPC)"

We will follow up with Telkom for feedback on this network fault

My ISP has been fighting with Telkom since Jan this year...... maybe this is the same problem you have Lilggg.
I hope they are on the right path to fixing this latency problem!

Yea i'm sure it is, which ISP are you with? Hopefully they can do something about it. Please let me know if anything happens, thanks.

Alternate what did Telkom do to fix your problem? and are you in the Glenashely area?
Lilggg my ISP is MWEB.

I'm in the Glenashely area, moved here about three months ago from La Lucia.

From one congested exchange to the next. Joy.

Hey guys if you don't know already a new DSLAM has been installed at the corner of Kenneth Kaunda Road and Umhlanga Rocks Drive across the road from the Total fuel station.

Lets hope the La Lucia exchange is next to be upgraded.

What was kenneth kaunda called previously? Was it northway? not that it matters, last nights congestion was 1000+ again.

Liggg how is your ping this evening? Mine is stable at 52ms! There was a whole lot of Telkom guys working on the Delaware DSLAM when I drove past this evening.

Mine was stable till about 6pm, then was spiking now and then, but much better than yesterday. The best it's been this month at least.

My line has been down for days, so I had no congestion issues to speak of. Back up today, will only try gaming later in the week.

Hows your ping now though? Mines jumping nicely between 200ms and 700ms.

Check my awesome ping at 11pm at night during the week, so like is it just me left with these issues or whats going on? Everybody got their stuff sorted or just given up? Even hellopeter is quiet even though it's getting worse and worse, not that i blame anyone, it's all a waste of time anyway.

given up hope...

The MSAN cabinets are done. Lets hope they sort out the issues they have with their network and can start doing the switchover.

Has anyone else recently started experiencing dropped connections?

I can barely browse anymore. This is so effing annoying.

No surprise there. Useless ****s, don't give a **** about their customers. Link won't even load thanks to the packet loss and 600ms ping. We should get a refund for the last 9 months of non existant service.

I don't even WANT a 10mbps line I just want my 1mbps to GIVE me 1mbps. Or (heaven forbid) be able to go back to 4mbps without dropping constantly.

4mbps dropped constantly, eventually had to drop the line speed to 1mbps just to have internet.

1mbps worked pretty well until November 2012, at which point our local ping at night suddenly skyrocketed from 40ms to 800ms and our line speed some nights drops to 0.12mbps. Online gaming is a exercise in frustration. Recently we've been having issues where we can't even load Google unless we reboot the router. (We've swapped out routers and ISPs a couple of times).
