The first hop after the router is heavily congested at specific times - mostly during the evening and Friday & Saturday night in particular. All that is a royal pain in the arse since that is pretty much the only time I'm at home & can utilize the ADSL.

It recovers later in the evening 22h00+.

Tried:
  • Two different backbones (IS/OW & SAIX/TI)
  • Checked line stats - looks good, no errors
  • Used firewall to check that nothing is using the line
  • Reset router

I would have tried a port reset too, but got tired of the endless "Your call is important to us" loop on 10210.

EDIT: Missing info per the sticky.

*sigh*. 23h20 and its still crap.

250 ping to mybroadband on multiple ISPs despite firewall showing zero other apps interfering. Thats like a mere 1000% increase in latency beyond the norm.

Crap congested exchange FTL. I shudder to think what will happen when Telkom doubles the sync rates.

Anyway...off to play a single player game seeing how my expensive ADSL link is too shtty for gaming.
