Respect to her from myside....
Very talented musician, read a bio on her when she was at that very exclusive music school... she is talented.

I think she just making music that sells, and with all musicians once she finds her feet, I see her producing some good music.

Elvis Presley has been doing it since the sixties. Obviously you learned this very old lesson.

Personally I don't like her music not my taste but I think as a performer and an artist she is brilliant...
 
I'm not a huge fan of Gaga, but her music is very interesting. At least more original than other modern bands
 
If you have ever dated an art student, the tone and contents of her videos and indeed the music itself will be immediately familiar.

She does explore topics in a typically 'arty' fashion (am talking about things like constructivism; post modernism; etc.) and her songs do also stand up to musical scrutiny, she does employ actual music in the writing of those songs - you may not always hear the devices as clearly as if the songs were performed acoustically for instance but they are in there and this certainly something that sets her apart from the vast majority of pop stars.

She is also an utter genius in terms of 'starchiteture' (her carefully planned and plotted road to fame.)

I don't hang out listening to her tunes and I don't bang that sheet in my car whilst driving fast but as an observer and in answer to the question posed by the OP: I'm leaning toward genius.
