I'd have posted this in the WoW section but it applies to other games too and sorry if it's been posted before, which it surely has. In RTS games even a half-second delay is crippling. I seem to notice less of a problem in WoW for some reason, but it's stil there. Usually about 300-600ms latency. Do services like WTFast etc work for all games? Surely yes? What do you guys use or is it just me with this problem.
Thanks

Buy a proper unshaped capped account from a reputable ISP and most of your issues will dissapear. Services like WTFast are the exception to the rule and should certainly not be necessary for most applications.

+1.

I have a 1GB Unshaped top-up account I use when needed, though usually the uncapped account is fine.

The one trick that I would recommend is do have a look at http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info13581-LeatrixLatencyFix.html

Leatrix Latency Fix
Version: 1.23by: Leatrix [More]
A latency fixing script by Leatrix

What does it do?

Leatrix Latency Fix will reduce your online gaming latency significantly by increasing the frequency of TCP acknowledgements sent to the game server. For the technically minded, this is a script which will modify TCPAckFrequency.

You will see reduced latency in many online games including World of Warcraft, Rift, Aion, Warhammer, Lord of the Rings, and more.

Blizzard implemented a checkbox option to disable nagling in World of Warcraft patch 4.1 (referred to as 'network optimisation'). This only serves to disable nagling on data packets so that data packets can be sent to the server more frequently. Leatrix Latency Fix disables nagling on acknowledgement packets to force faster responses from the server, they're two different things and can be used together. This question has been answered in the FAQ too.

Another +1 for the leatrix fix.

I get about 215 - 260 with it in WoW to Europe.

Oh, and best part is there is no monthly subscription ;)

Check online about manually adjusting MTU.

I simply set mine down by 4 bits, and it has made my latency much better!

I'm on Telkom 286kbps 5GB cap. I'll try the leatrix thing.

Also, I'm using WiFi and not cabled to the router - could that be an issue? Or part of it.
