Ok firstly I am still on Dial up. At the moment I see no point in going for any of the "broadband" options as I refuse to pay the prices asked for k*k service and to be shaped into non-existance. I mainly use my connection for gaming.
Lately however I have noticed a strange new trend. I wake up very early on weekends, usually about 4 am or so and will then sit down to play for a while. I can usually get around 500ms from us based NWN servers. The problem comes in at about 10-11 am. then my dial up connection goes to h*ll in a handbasket.
I have no idea what is going on but my pings suddenly go from 500 odd to over 2000 and the game becomes unplayable. Anybody got any ideas?
am i really going to have to fork out 1k every month for a 512k line unshaped just to get my 500ms to last all day on a weekend?
