Just curios if anyone has a rough idea what it would cost to fit about 200 square meters of laminate flooring assuming that I bought the materials.

Discount flooring was running an awesome special recently. 160sq/m fitted. We had our lounge re-done.
They are at stoneridge.

@Grimspoon: No dude. Skirting was extra, although not much. That price included lifting the old carpets and laying the new floor.
They did a real nice job too. We are going to use them to do all the bedrooms and my home theater room too now.

Awesome. Do you remember what floor you went with?

Thinking of renovating? :p

Don't let any water stand on the laminate flooring too long. It looks ugly afterwards.

lol in fact moving into my new place tomorrow and it is mostly made up of carpets and tiles. In my current house every square foot of my house is laminate so I want to do the same at the new place.

Water is the devil with laminate. Even our bathrooms have laminate flooring (was like that when we bought the place) and let me tell you its the dumbest thing in the world to have it in a bathroom.

The flooring by my shower is not looking so lekker even though we take serious care not to wet it. Bathrooms need to be tiled.

lol know what you mean. Thanks.

PS: Why you not at church? :p

LOL. The wife also cannot remember correctly. It is an 8mm floor and it quite sexy looking. Got a bit of black/grey in the wood colouring. Looks nice with a black leather lounge suite and stuff.

On the church issue... I am agnostic. The wife is a born again. We both respect each others choices in religion and leave it at that :)

Cool, we are going for a walnut finish. My current place is plum, we keen to try a darker colour.

lol, that is really cool that you can both be so different religiously and still get along. I for one am also agnostic, my wife is catholic but not heavy.

Since this thread necro was done by a spammer... i'll abuse it for a bit :)

Did you ever find out a cost on getting the stuff installed?

I'm thinking of slowly starting to redo rooms in my house since my entire house is tiled and I dislike it intensely.

Yip I did and I had it done. Cost me about R48 000 in total to do the entire house which covers about 370 square meters give or take.

Thats actually not too bad really. Does that include the laminate flooring cost or was that just the installation cost?

Yeah it wasn't to bad considering it was the entire house, minus my study which would have been about an extra R8000. But I am planning to do that soon.

Nope that was complete cost including the flooring, labor, strips and skirting.

Thread necro of joy.

Has anyone installed laminate flooring recently that can offer insight into:

Good places to use?
Total costs of materials (flooring, skirting etc.)?
Total cost of installation?

Thanks.
