Hi all, yet another one to get loads of different opinions of!

The Laminex being sold at Autostyle etc...spacifically the smoked ones, whether it be light smoke or the dark one...

Does it somehow affect the brightness of your headlights?

I've seen loads of cars with it on...but never at night!

I must say most of the cars I've seen it with are looking really cool, esp. GTi 4 and 5!!!

I would insert a pic here but don't know how to

check out this Merc with laminex tint on the headlights and darker on the rears...

Cheers

hmmm... I'm very interested in applying this to the back lights of my Impreza - the stock lights are damn fugly. A smoked or red look would be much better IMO. Who can I call?

Yip, go black or deep red... depending on the colour of your car...

I wonder if the cops would give me grief? Also wonder how much the red affects brake lights and indicators?

I doubt it.

Are your colored films legal on headlights for street use?
Our colored films may not be legal for street use of primary lighting. An off-road disclosure is recommended. Please check your state or local laws before application. Installation of colored Lamin-x Film on your primary lights is done so at your own risk.

I see on the Lamin-x site they have the pre-cut shapes. The '08 Impreza hatch is on there - R560 bucks shipped to SA. Gonna have to wait till next month though, I'm uber broke.

asaik it does affect the brightness of the lights, but this will only be of real concern if you fit 'em on your front (driving) lights...

...fitting them to the back should have the same effect as tinting the light cluster, so it will appear nice and dark during the day, but at night you'll be visible as per norm

if you have the time and a few extra $$, buy a roll of some cheap window tint (much like the ones you get from guy next to the road), and test it on your lights

ROFL - I was also thinking of doing it... I just like finding pictures before hand... here's the one I found of a silverstone S2000 (same as mine) with gunsmoke...

Want to find a picture of the lighter tint and blue

Just remember your headlights get hot on brights, window tint my melt, or cause your headlights to get too hot inside.

Is there anyone who actually fitted the stuff and had difficulty in seeing at night because of bad lighting?

And its quite easy to fix...you buy a 50cm piece for R250...buy two and then just like window tint you apply...

DIY was in last month's Speed and Sound.

Personally, I think that it's not a good idea to cover the headlights with anything, and that includes those perspex stone guards...I tried them on one of my cars, and even though they were clear, the lights lost quite a bit of intensity. As far as improving clear tail lights, I think that's a great idea, as I really don't see the point of a clear taillight lens anyway!
