often people ask "whats the best games for a LAN?" there is no definite asnwer because everyone likes different genre's, but in this thread I will highlight Some of the many favourites among Players.

Note - Many Games have been taken from "brokenLinks" thread.

and may be listed twice,depending on the type:

First Of All We Have the FPS:

Battlefield 2 With Mods that Add Bots, Otherwise Maps are Too large Imo.

RTS - These are always fun at a LAN.

Rise Of Nations Thrones and Patriots (expansion)

Co-op - These are extremely fun becuase you get to play on a team with people right by you.

Call of Duty 4 (pezbots Mod is Awsum for co-op (bots Mod) for a LAN )

Serious Sam HD (UBER AWSUM ON CO-OP)

Racing (Not as fun at a LAN, but you may enjoy it):

haha did you seriously just ask what game is Quake? or am I just misreading what you wrote? Because seriously now haha that would be ridiculous. Anyway some good games there. unfortunately I don't lan nearly as much as I used to back in the day :(
 
I kinda know what it is, but i didnt know what genre it fulls under....
 
Resident Evil 5 is quite a lot of fun as a co-op game (at least your partner is less likely to waste ammo!).
GTA IV is also a lot of fun (never knew it was actually possible in a LAN environment) but you need quite a few people if you really want to get the best out of it.
The other favourites are already on your list!

i have never played these, not even at home...maybe i should recommend these for my next LAN
 
Neg Dude BF2 with mods, like global conflict, adds bots and its just awesome for a lan.

Try it sometime.
 
@OP

The Trackmania games tend to be a lot more casual and more popular at a LAN than the NFS games
 
Only problem is it takes 5 weeks to install it and all the expansions :P but its worth it.
 
Titan's Quest and Expansion Immortal Trone are awesome Co-Op dungeon Crawlers ALA Diablo. A must for Diablo fans.

Flatout is also quite popular at some of the lan parties i've been too but personally not a fan.

DOTA anybody? I would think someone would mention it.

I am thinking of adding a score out of 10 for each game what do you guys think of this?
