Hey there

If you have opened this thread then you are most likely an online/offline gamer and are interested in LANin with other gamers.

I would like to know who here would be interested in a bi-monthly or monthly LAN situated in Johannesburg, more specifically, Randburg area? This LAN would mainly revolve around COD4 primarily as well as data sharing, if/when this LAN is lifted off the ground, more games will be introduced.

Once I have enough feedback about this I will be organising one as a dry run to see how well it does.

The entrance fee would be between R80 and R140 per person (Will range accordingly with the popularity and success of the previous LANs. Example, the First LAN will be R80)

YES there will be competitions!

If you are interested, please type Yes or anything positive and state bi-monthly or monthly

If your not interested, please rather leave and let this thread be.... Thanks

Id rather pay 80 and go to a proper 500 man lan then pay R140 at a new lan which probably won't have a lot of people

Truth be told demon, until you actually organise an event and make the first one worthwhile (competition or give aways) no one will express interest until there is something there :(

With LAN's I think it is more about build it and they will come rather than any other route.

I would attend and try bring along a few of the BFB'ers to attend as well.

shot quiky, I will try organise, its just that its going to cost a bit and i just want to see if i can get a basic interest first...

When i was in Cape Town, i never used to go to OC because it was so far away, now the only monthly LANs in JHB are MPLD and the Extreme LAN and they are both very far from myself and a few friends. Thats the objective of this thread, to see if it would be nice to have a monthly LAN closer to where they live... If you came and enjoyed it, come again, but i dont want to waste my time and money if people dont want to come just because they couldnt be bothered to see what its like because of MPLD and Extreme who have sponsors. I am looking into sponsors but once again that will only happen if the LAN takes off and right now all I have is my TINY company backing this with a little bit of cash... Anyways, thanks for the input, i am working on it and i will post here.

Thanks for your input Keeper, but next time please try not to be so blunt

Ninja (aka Demon) :P

I have Owned (and Sold) a LAN for almost 2 years, so sorry if my Input sounded "blunt" but I know a little bit of what i'm talking about.
I just wanted to say that if you want to get a LAN going you are going to need gamers - a lot of 'em - and to do that you will be running at a loss for the first few months. charging anything close to R100 for a startup LAN is overkill.

Think about it - Charging R140 is seriously a bit steep just for a table and lan connection, for just 2 days..... i mean, you can get uncapped Internet for +-R350 a month or even join a WUG for FREE

so yeah, not trying to be funny on purpose just saying lower your entry fee till you get the place packed.

I'd be keen but I can't say I'm a big COD fan (sure I'll play...but there has to be something else on offer too). Just make sure you offer enough of a variety and I'll be there...well not for R140 unless I know it's going to be uber-awesome (i.e. silvery polished polls and girls dancing around them...maybe I really am getting to old for gaming!).

FIFA Tournaments Needed!

This is very interesting. I am an EA FIFA gamer and I attend their competitions every year. What I do not do however, is have enough torunaments to attend. Given the numbers of people who attend their once a year competition, I always feel that there is an appetite for more EA FIFA tournaments.

If you can add EA FIFA to your list of games I will definately be there. R80 a pop is fine. However, it would have to be bi-monthly. Otherwise, R40/mth.

Let me know how far you are.

P.S. The 2010 FIFA World Cup game is out. I've got a copy.
