Hi Guys

I sell networking equipment and was wondering what are your thoughts on the various alternatives available today? Which Vendor you prefer and why, and which one you implemented at work.

I need to get an idea from the people that work the kit every day as the marketing of the Vendors can get confusing.

Your opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah can't go wrong with cisco's stuff but for simple network solutions I prefer Netgear. Like their swtiches

All depends on the application for biggish networks I prefer HP Pro Curve nice switches these, otherwise Netgear ( keep them well ventilated) and D-Link,
Linksys wireless stuff is brilliant very flexible. D-Link actually impressed me a client of mine had a D-link access point in a resturant/pub offering free WiFi access and that little thing ran 15-30 concurrent connections a night and never fell over we eventualy replaced it with a linksys and stronger omni because of a dead spot. For wans Cisco is king altho I have a client running a WAN (5 branches across the country) with netgears over adsl and its suprisingly stable. Lol falls over once a day at 4am when telkom do their session disconnects.

Awesome, I'm looking for a GB switch.

Any prices? 8 port or so.

I'll have a look, but I think you are going to struglle getting an 8-port with Gigabit connectivity.
