Hi guys

I have a very "unusual" question. Is there any way (in windows xp) to give priority to a port when more than one port is connected?

For example:
Say the LAN 1 is connected, has a gateway, internet working.
When I connected the Wireless which does not have a gateway, I want LAN1's gateway to give me internet access.

Normaly this is done without any thought... but I'm having a problem where if the LAN and Wireless are conencted, I'm loosing internet connection (no emails nor internet).

I have hamachi installed 2.0 something, the new one, and the problems seemed to have appeared since the update.

I have to disable Hamachi as well as the Wireless to have a stable internet access (or hamachi when connected on the Wifi and no lan connection present).

I don't know if that sounded right, but let's see what you guys can help with...

Windows defaults to the last established connection, you could theoretically use an app to force routing for all internet traffic through a specific device/connection,tho the route monkeys would have to help with that :)

Where can I find such a monkey?
:P

HAHA :D

What worked for me once when I also had so many connections was to go into each ones properties and change the metric to the order of preference so ie. if you want your pc to first try the local area connection instead of hamachi change the metric of the local connection to 1 and hamachi to 2 and so on and so forth...

good luck, I know how annoying that is

Can you maybe tell me how to go forth in doing this? I have starting looking into it a little bit, but don't know the steps yet. Any help?

Go to control panel -> network connections. right click the connection you want to edit -> properties. double click on "internet protocol (tcp/ip)" then click on advanced. at the bottom of that window you will see the metric option.
