Filipino mayor unharmed after apparent RPG attack on car in broad daylight.

A Filipino mayor escaped unharmed after an apparent rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) attack on his convoy in broad daylight Sunday in the southern province of Maguindanao del Sur, authorities said.

The Philippine News Agency (PNA), the country’s state-run news outlet, reported that Mayor Akmad Ampatuan was inside a bulletproof vehicle when the attack occurred at around 6:30 a.m.

Video of the incident shows two men stepping out of a white van, one holding what appears to be an RPG and another carrying a gun.

That Landcruiser is probably an armoured version, but still very impressive!

I think he missed. The explosion is visible behind the vehicle and you can see it driving away with the near side looking unscathed.

RPG 2 only carries PG2 warheads which contains a shaped charge meaning it is “HEAT”. What anti-infantry or HE warhead does RPG-2 load? I don’t think there’s any. If it was an RPG 2 most likely it hit the stepboard area and was directed to the ground OR it overpenetrated rendering the shaped charge useless.

If it was RPG 7, it could be an HE warhead (OG7 HE) which is designed against infantry rather than for penetrating armor.
