Always thought you can only make android apps with Java... Now I know...

If you are going the PhoneGap/Cordova way, check out the Ionic framework - some great features and being actively worked on.

Get the smartphone for general use. It sounds like you're using an old phone or something.
And +1 on Blue Stacks. Can't comment on Genymotion (I have yet to play with it). HAXM tool works for me and my AVD loads in seconds.

Skip the Android SDK emulator; way too slow.

Btw Genymotion runs off Oracle Virtualbox; biggest benefit over Bluestacks (aside from speed) is ability to download multiple VMs for most of the popular Android devices (Samsung, Sony, ...)

yea SO is not very friendly to newbies.... took me a while to get accustomed to the questioning style lol

If you need some speed, you can use the NDK to integrate some C into Android studio. Though I wouldn't recommend this if you are just starting out as there are limited tutorials on the matter for the latest versions of Android studio.

Ok, back from being busy with android, got going with Bluestacks, its heavy on the resources though. Thanks for all the tips.
