@lantic uncapped - Absolutely hillarious!

Probably a typo - from their website:

Uncapped 384 - Include 384 DSL line + uncapped ADSL usage R339
Uncapped 512 - Include 512 DSL line + uncapped ADSL usage R589
Uncapped 4096 - Include 4096 DSL line + uncapped ADSL usage R889

They're R10 cheaper than mweb!

Where did you get that? I know they automatically add that +1GB free if you get a line with them. So they might have mistakenly added it to the uncapped offering.

Well, I think MWEB received way too much credit here. And I'm sure it's not a case of jumping on the bandwagon. I cannot imagine that all these other ISPs hurriedly having boardroom meetings and deciding to match or beat MWEB without at least some of them having conducted thorough research.

Developments in the broadband arena likely poised the ISPs in the position where they could start to offer uncapped bw at these prices from April. So rather than these companies jumping on the bandwagon, the jumping was done by MWEB, who jumped the gun. Note that even though MWEB appears to be signing up clients now already, they initially stated that subscriptions could only begin next week.

IMO, what happened was MWEB's jumping of the gun caused other ISPs to quickly announce their intentions too. Certainly, a LOT can happen in a long weekend where broadband users can mull things over and possibly make drastic decisions. These types of prices are unprecedented in SA.

So @lantic rushed the ad out and left the free 1 Gb in place.

And +1 to all those who, on other threads, left the ball in Telkom's and ICASA's court to relook at ADSL line rental and LLU respectively.

2010 is a good year ;)

It appears WA is the only ISP not invited to the party. It will be interesting to see how long their business model will be sustainable...
