Hello everyone, Me and my husband have been trying to conceive for the last 3 years now so we recently visited a Doctor who said I need to do a laparoscopy and handed me quotation of R63K. Which I cannot afford. I know I have to do it so I’m just wondering if there is any one who knows a hospital that is reasonably priced

Laparoscopic operations are very expensive, I had one about 3 years back and back then the total cost was already around R50k. What type of laparoscopic procedure do you want done?
Why not rather adopt if you can't conceive?

@OP, the cost will be broken into three main sections, the hospital (including theatre fees) cost, the surgeon and the anaesthetist costs. You can probably shop around as a cash patient on all three separately.

That is very helpful thank you!!

Wouldn't the hospital plan benefits kick in if she is admitted?

Medical aid should cover, when my wife had one done, we only had to pay for the anesthesiologist as they charged higher than medial aid rates because of course they did.

But even then it was just the difference between medical aid rates and what he charged all in around R 5000.

Are you guys 100% sure the issue is with you and needs an operation?

If all avenues have been done and this is your only option. I suggest maybe getting onto a medical aid, and wait out the waiting period. If not, I guess a personal loan is on the cards. However as Pinball Wizard has said. Shopping around as a cash paying patient can net you a very decent discount. In excess of 30% sometimes.
