Some advice would be very welcome... I mainly use a PC but I need something basic for travelling, suitable for MS Office programs. I'm thinking of one of these 2 options.

Both look fine spec-wise for what you need. I'd go for the Acer with the longer warranty.

Get it from Evetech for much cheaper. You might get unlucky though... you always can send it back to the manufacturer in that case.

Acer batteries suck

I would get an older HP Elitebook ie Gen6

They work great. A Zbook 15 G3 (not the U) if you can find one too. Heavy but they are workstations so 2x hdds, 4x ram slots.

Rather buy a Laptop from Carb.

I've bought about 8 x laptops for family and friends via Carb through the years. Zero issues.

Got real good deals on new/demo/1 year old laptops - new price R20 000 to R25 000 - bought from Carb for between R8000 - R10 000.

What works for me :

- Seller must have a high positive feedback score
- I buy Dell (with warranty ) only
- face to face works best - but I bought at least 4 x that had to be shipped.

Last one I bought was in Nov 22.
Got a brand new Dell Latitude 3520 i5 11th Gen for R9000 - warranty till 2025 .
