Hi!

I'm the market for a laptop from PC Zone (www.zones.co.za). Currently torn between the Dell Studio 1558 and the Gigabyte Q1585N. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :)

hey.

They are basically the same except for the graphics and the embedded 3g.

The gigabyte model is very plain to look at. Not visually appealing at all/
The dell is better on that regard.

And with dell you get a 3 year on site warranty.

I would go with the dell, but the gigabyte is still an excellent machiine for that price.

Thankfully with buying laptops from pc zone you can deal with the manufacturers when it comes with repairs instead of pc zone.

I would recommend going there and playing with both models. Clicking the mouse, opening and closing the lid. and so forth

I am mistaken in believing that the Gigabyte is slightly more powerful due to the 335M card as opposed to the Dell's HD 6470?

I'm Gona buy the gigabyte 2moro, and 2 yrs warranty is gud enuf, especially when tech in evolving so rapidly. I wil probably pick a 6-9k laptop in bout 2yrs. Btw I play Xbox and ps3, so I'm prty casual in pc gamin. Iv seen that laptop with the i5 2.27ghz and 2gb ram for 7k+ lol

if you dont plan on a replacement laptop in the next 3yrs+, then pay the extra 1100 and get the dell. iv done too much research, both wud sell for 2k extra any where else.

I would go with the Dell, no doubt. Their quality, and especially warranty support, are excellent. Pay the extra and go for the Dell.
