I hope someone can help...

I got a budget for 20k for a new laptop...

I am kinda limited to the following makes

Dell
HP
Apple

I'm leaning more towards the Dell XPS 17 3D

Will be using it for work and BF3...

Other options

HP Elitebook Pro 8540w
Dell Precision series

Could I please get some recommendations from those who have these machines and overall performance

Also any other make that would suit the work and play scene as I can try and push my luck to get something else

Thanks
Mr P

To be honest, I'd spend 10k - 12k on a desktop for gaming, and the rest on a medium spec laptop for work. Unless that isn't an option?

20K to be able to play games on a laptop? WTF Some people don't know what to do if they get hold of some cash. That laptop will be worth less then 10k by Oct 2012! Spend with your brains not balls :D

The Best Brand out of those is Dell.

Try and see if there isnt like an Alienware distributor in SA because Alienware makes the laptops optimized for heavy gaming.

I have the Dell XPS L502X and it does not disappoint (yet).

Jeez. I am replying to this late - thanks for the responses.

It's not my money I am spending :)

Its a company incentive, they will subsidise 75% of the notebook.

Yeah, read a few reviews on the XPS series and all seem quite decent. The Precision series looks good too but I dont think that I need that spec of a laptop for work, Alienware on the other hand is specifically a gaming laptop - I doubt that they will approve - just got me a quote today for the machine - here are the specs... just coming in over 20k so I think i will be down grading the HDD to a 500gb
