Ok, so I'm going to be selling my gaming desktop PC and get a laptop for when I leave to the UK in a couple months and I am hoping to get some feedback on what would be the best to get because truly, the range is quite mind boggling. Price range I'm hoping will be between 7k-8.5k and it needs to be fairly nice. Not an uber gaming PC, just something that can let me access the net, watch streaming and play my DDO :) At least an i5 with 4gb ram I reckon. So please feel free to lay it all out, brands and alles.

Will appreciate any feedback I get :)

I'd wait for until you get in the UK before purchasing a laptop or new gaming rig. You'll find it's a bit cheaper over there for premium stuff. Friend of mine has an Alienware laptop. I'd even go as far as to say "Don't get a laptop, get the Alienware X51" but that's just me and my future purchase

Yeah it is cheaper to buy overseas ;)

Ook's brother got a nice lappie in Germany for about half of what he would have paid for it here.

Rather buy it in the UK.

General rule for going overseas, take as little as possible. Be brutal.

Put your data on memory stick or dvd's

And avoid curries and pcworld. They have low prices, but sell crap.

Check out Dell UK for laptops and desktops

I bought a desktop from
www.meshcomputers.com/

Excellent service.

I have to buy it before I leave. I don't want to have to take over 2 pc's and it will be a month money wise before I can get a gaming desktop again that side. It's being bought here, no question, has to be done.

Perhaps something second hand?

Try get 520MX minimum graphics, i5, 4-8GB RAM.

Most of the brands are offering similar stuff. I've seen Gigabyte offering excellent prices.

You should also consider something with international warranty.

Careful of buying overseas as some warranties are not valid in SA, I have seen many fall short and the moment their is an issue they stuck and end up paying for costly repairs

Toshiba is best when travelling dude. Excellent quality and price.
