Laptop cant 'see' media player

i have a win 7 laptop plugged into one of those duolink telkom adsl routers. My media player in the room is also plugged into this router. The router is not connected to the internet though.

i have a 'DHCP not ready' message on the network setup of the media player and my laptop cant see it. i have tried auto setup and manually typing the addresses in but no luck.

i can access the web interface of my media player through my browser but cant see it in my networking options.

any advice?

Make sure your Gateway and Sub net addresses are correct.

First thing to check is to see if the router's DHCP has been enabled , If not enable it, otherwise if it doesn't like your router's DHCP, then manually set up the media player by giving it a static IP and Subnet mask and make the gateway the same as the router (Incase you connect internet to it in the future)

and also ensure that the Laptop is in the same ip range.
