I need to upgrade my laptop and I'm checking out the specs on the i7 6600u and i5 6300u cpu options on the 2hnd laptops i'm looking on getting. Despite both having the same base power consumption of 15W TDP some people say in use the i7 chows the battery and runs rather hot whereas the i5 is much better in both regards.
Anyone used both and can say whether the marginal difference on paper pans out to much difference in use?
One main usage scenario for me is Lightroom and it's biggest need is single core clock speed, the higher the better.
i7 6600u
Processor Base Frequency 2.60 GHz
Max Turbo Frequency 3.40 GHz
i5 6300u
Processor Base Frequency 2.40 GHz
Max Turbo Frequency 3.00 GHz
