Laptop for R10k

Hello, i am going to university next year and my dad said he will buy me a laptop worth 10000 rand might argue with him till about 12000 rand

So i would just like to know what laptop will be best for programming and gaming.. Like dota 2 world of warcraft etc..

I was looking towards Acer E5-571PG-57DD

All of the below will run Dota and WoW -- my gt640m runs both games 100% and CS:GO and BF3/4(not so good here), shadow of mordor etc etc.

If you HAVE to stay under 10k then i think your choice is quite legit. 840m with 8gb ram is still pretty good for those games.

Thanks for the reply .. Does the CPU really mean that much because in my current PC i have an i3 with 550ti graphics card and it currently runs well.. On most games

the 950m one from evetech looks prommising

Honestly i would rather have an i5 with 950m than an i7 with 940m.
GPU > CPU for gaming.
As you can see, quite a big difference.

Make sure you get a decent resolution screen on the laptop.

Once you have settled in. Look at getting a 24 inch screen for your desk and a wireless keyboard and mouse set. The 2 screens and seperate mouse and keyboard will allow you to be more productive in your studies.
 
You can get something pretty awesome at a trusted carbonite seller.
I basically got a laptop worth R7000 for R3500 and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it.
 
Btw you looking for the following scores on passmark, these will give you 60fps and allow you to max out DOTA2

CPU: 4000
GPU: 2000
 
Leave the Acer and rather go for something like Asus.

Most laptops advertised for R10 000 at the current exchange rate, will have an intel i5 processor, but if you look a little harder, you can find for that same budget a few more powerful laptops with i7 CPU, 12 GB - 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB hard drive like this Toshiba Satellite C55 (make sure it is not the i5 one):

The funny part is the i5 laptop with the 950m posted earlier is actually faster than the these i7 laptops in both cpu and gpu.

laptops are so confusing with their cpus, those i5 and i7 run more like a normal i3 3rd gen on PCs
