Hi, so when it comes to buying a PC I know if a deal is or isnt good. But when it comes to laptops I have no clue. However, I have done some researched and came across this laptop, which seems to me is an amazing deal:

MSI GX740 ( 17" LCD, 430M 2.26GHz, HD5870, 4GB DDR3, 500GB HDD, Windows 7 Pro ) for R13 000
http://www.ikonicit.co.za/index.php?target=products&product_id=27064

But, unfortunetly it is slightly too expensive as I only have a budget of R11 000 and anything more would be pushing it. Do you guys know of any laptops of similar standard but are cheaper? Or if by some miracle you know of a place that sells this laptop for R11 000 that would be great.

Oh and I am looking for a gaming laptop.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Try Incredible Rip-off !!! :P LoL .but seriously, just try somewhere online, its bound to pop up at a good price sooner or later.

That MSI is a good deal if you're looking for a gaming notebook. I'd suggest you save some more cash before you buy it or look for a better deal on it. The reason being that the Mobile Radeon 5870 is currently unbeatable in performance and price on a notebook machine. The only faster single GPU card on a mobile machine is the Nvidia GTX480M, but that thing is expensive as hell and creates way too much heat for my taste.
I have the Asus G73 and to be honest, it was a lot more expensive than the MSI but the performance of the two should be more or less the same. I'm actually trying to convince my flatmate to buy the MSI so we can do a bit of LAN gaming at home.

Thx raptor =/ This means that I have to go back to trying to find a god like deal for that MSI. Anyone know of a really cheap place?

Nicko, if you can arrange that it would be awesome. I was shocked to see how we're being raped locally on the price of notebook machines. I ordered my G73 from the US, and even with crazy import taxes and delivery costs (amounting to something like an extra R3.5K) I still managed to save about R3.5K off our local pricing (R20K+ locally, got mine here for R16.5K)
Of course, it's a bit of a hassle, but worth the wait. (you might want to check if there's an international warranty on it before you order)

Whats the percentage import tax? Also are you able to claim back the American Value added tax?
