Hi all,Friends laptop is here with me ..he needs assistance

if you put the laptop on sometimes it just goes through to windows with no problems! oh its a Dell Inspiron 1546.

But it takes a few tries to get that right..It seems when you put it on it throws a white /grey screen when booting..
Put it on and off a few times it goes through with no problems? and stays on as long as you don't switch it off again ??

Any ideas to check what this could be?

Specs **
Processor Intel Core i3-330M Processor - 2.13 GHz - 3 MB L2 cache
Operating System Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium
RAM 4GB
Hard drive 500 GB SATA
Optical disk drive Dual Layer DVD Rewriter
Graphics card ATI Radeon HD 4330 graphics processor

How far into the boot does it throw the white/grey screen?

In the meantime can you post the HDD SMART info.

What happens if you boot from a linux livecd/usb?

Check the connectors between the LCD & motherboard. Yes it could be a screen issue.

That's what i'm thinking as well ..I mean the screen does come on after some time? so it's not like the screen is done for..
