I have had this strange issue with my laptop keyboard since last week.

Everytime i press any of the numpad keys, the keyboard puts the mouse in highlight mode.
If for example I press the numbers 7 and 9 on my numpad, will input the 7 only and when I move my mouse it highlights everything where I move my mouse.

I have made a video clip of this, if it will make it easier.

Anyone have any idea why it would do this?

If it makes a difference, it is a Dell Inspiron 15 3000 Series laptop.

Thanks
PP

If you have a USB keyboard on hand, check if you get the same behaviour. Then you can rule out (or in) hardware vs windows driver/interaction issue.

If you've installed any new drivers for the keyboard or mouse, roll them back, and if there's any funny software for said keyboard or mouse - uninstall it

Hi

I haven't installed any drivers as of late.
Can't seem to find any suspicious or funny apps/software that rises any red flags either.

Sounds like the shift button making contact when it shouldn`t, might be someone spilled something on it.
If you plug in a USB keyboard, it would still do it because the laptop keyboard is not disabled.
